Legacy Gift and Estate Planning:
- Legacy Gifts and estate planning are important tools for assuring the LACF continues the vision and supports the goals for the community.
- Many donors remembered the LACF with a generous gift in his or her will or through their living trust. In fact, the vast majority of legacy gifts to nonprofits are made not through fancy annuities and other financial arrangements requiring the nonprofit’s management, but the old-fashioned way, through wills and simple probate-avoidance devices (such as living trusts and beneficiary designations on IRAs, 401(k)s, and other financial and investment instruments).
- In order to name the LACF among the beneficiaries, you wish to donate to you simply state the LACF’s full legal name; PO Box 92, Longville, MN 56655; and Tax ID# 41-1699500.
- A donor can also name the LACF as the beneficiary of property such as a bank account, life insurance policy, or retirement plan. Your bank or financial advisors can guide you in this process.
- Charitable bequests may reduce (or even eliminate) the amount of estate tax owed.
Gift Restrictions:
Donors may also restrict how the LACF uses the gift. Donors may specify causes such as: City Park project, Food Shelf, Fire Department, the Lakes Area Arts Alliance, a specific capital project, or numerous other options. In addition, donors may gift the LACF endowment fund. This ensures the gift is long lasting and contributes to future income for the LACF.
Providing Recognition:
- Legacy and estate donors have the option to remain anonymous or be recognized on the LACF website. Additional forms of recognition include published thanks, dedication to a building, or specific program or scholarship.
The LACF Funds the Future:
For over 30 years the LACF has provided grants and scholarships to qualifying applicants in our geographic region. With community support, the LACF looks to continue the vision for generations to come.
